Semana 36: Changes, But No Changes: 3/20/17

Hola everyone!

I officially completed my first transfer in Santo Domingo!! The time went super super fast! And it turns out nothing´s going to change for a little bit longer because Elder Canul and I are together for one more transfer! We´re going to end up having at least 16 weeks together in the mission as companions.

Well this week some super great things happened! First off, on Thursday we had a SUPER great lesson with this family that I've been telling you about! In Santo Domingo, we always go on splits with the members at least a couple of times a week for like 2 hours.  I was on splits with our new ward mission leader and we went to go visit this family together. I was a little nervous to be the one to do the majority of the teaching, especially because this lesson was going to be super important.  We still hadn't placed a baptismal date with them yet and they still had some problems with the word of wisdom. BUT... It ended up being the best lesson I've ever had in my entire mission I think. It was SO awesome! I basically did all the teaching and answering of the questions and didn't have much trouble or stress doing it.  The Spirit was super strong and I saw such a huge change in them in this lesson.  We placed baptismal dates with the mom, Johanna, and the daughter, Rachel, but Maybellin (the other daughter) and Olman (the dad) we´re still working with.  We´re hoping to baptize Johanna and Rachel this Saturday the 25th! I love this family so much and I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity to teach them.  I have seen them grow so much and all four of them came to church this Sunday with Books of Mormon in hand!

Another cool thing that happened this week is that I went on splits with my dad (trainer) Elder Batres.  We basically didn't have any appointments with anyone so that meant contacting... BUT, we ended up having 8 lessons, found 7 new investigators, and placed 7 baptismal dates with these 7 new investigators!! It was such a cool day and great experience.  Not every day is going to be like that, but I know we were being guided and rewarded for our efforts to seek out the elect of God.

I know this church is true and that we have a great work to do here on the earth to seek out the Lord´s elect.  Sometimes it can be scary or intimidating to share your beliefs with other people for fear of rejection or other things like that.  But I invite you all to overcome this fear and share what you know is true with others! If you aren't sure if what you believe is true, make the necessary changes in your life to find the truth and then share it with others!

I love you and hope you have a great week this week!
